Minervois is a red wine produced in the Languedoc-Roussillon wine region of southern France. The Minervois vineyard is considered one of the largest in the region, covering over 4,000 hectares. Minervois AOP wines are made from Grenache , Syrah , and Mourvèdre grapes, which impart complex aromas of red fruit, spice, leather, and garrigue (Mediterranean scrubland). The Minervois vineyards primarily produce red wines, but also rosé and white wines. The red wine has a ruby color and an elegant, structured palate, making it a premium wine appreciated by red wine enthusiasts.
Minervois is produced in a region characterized by clay-limestone soils and ideal climatic conditions for growing red grape varieties. The vines are planted on the slopes of the Montagne Noire and the Corbières, at altitudes ranging from 100 to 500 meters. This region benefits from abundant sunshine and a maritime influence, which contribute to the grapes reaching optimal ripeness.
His food and wine pairings:
To accompany Minervois wine, we recommend dishes that complement its aromas and structure. Grilled red meats, stews, soft or hard cheeses, and spicy dishes are perfect pairings for this wine. For chocolate lovers, Minervois also pairs beautifully with chocolate desserts.
Rose-Cutting Castle
The Château Coupe-Roses estate is located in La Caunette, in the Minervois region. The Frissant family has owned the estate for 400 years, and it is currently managed by Françoise Le Calvez and her husband , Pascal Frissant . The estate covers 15 hectares of vines planted on south-facing clay-limestone slopes, thus benefiting from maximum sunshine. The grape varieties used for wine production are Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. The estate is renowned for its production of high-quality red and rosé wines, combining elegance and aromatic complexity.
Domaine Anne Gros
In 2007, Anne Gros , a renowned Burgundy winemaker, and her husband , Jean-Paul Tollot , decided to explore the beautiful terroir of Minervois . The couple produced their first vintage in 2008 from the Cazelles vineyard in Minervois. Together, they worked to create exceptional wines, the flagship cuvées being "Les Fontanilles" and "La Ciaude." These wines are recognized for their complexity and exceptional tannic structure.
