The Brane-Cantenac vineyard stretches across deep gravelly soils typical of Margaux, resting on a clay-sand base. These terroirs impart finesse, structure, and excellent drainage, essential for the quality of the grapes. The vines, of a respectable average age, are cultivated using sustainable practices, respecting both the living organisms and the soil. The plots dedicated to Baron de Brane benefit from the same exacting standards as those for the grand vin, guaranteeing a faithful expression of the terroir.

Owner and history

Château Brane-Cantenac is managed by Henri Lurton, a representative of the renowned Bordeaux winemaking family. An agricultural engineer and oenologist by training, he has been instilling a modern and sustainable approach to the estate since the 1990s. His commitment to excellence, biodiversity, and precision winemaking is reflected in every vintage. Baron de Brane exemplifies this ambition: to produce approachable, elegant, and structured wines, befitting the prestige of Margaux.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Brane-Cantenac is based on rigorous plot selection, controlled fermentations in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and careful aging.
The 2019 Baron de Brane is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, approximately 20% of which are new. This method preserves the fruit while adding structure and a beautiful aromatic complexity, true to the elegance of Margaux wines.
