Château Gruaud Larose 2024 reveals an intense, deep red color with garnet highlights. The nose charms with complex aromas of black fruit, cedar, and delicately oaked vanilla. On the palate, the attack is ample, supported by silky, structured tannins, offering a dense and harmonious texture. The finish is endless, lingering with notes of sweet spice and blond tobacco.

The Château Gruaud Larose vineyard spans nearly 82 hectares of exceptional terroir, composed of deep gravel over a clay-sand subsoil. These gravels, characteristic of Bordeaux's Left Bank, ensure optimal drainage and promote slow, even ripening of the grapes. The vines, planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon and averaging 46 years old, are cultivated using sustainable practices. This unique terroir imparts to the wines their tannic power, their extraordinary aging potential, and their aromatic complexity, which evolves beautifully over time.

Owner and history

Since 1997, Château Gruaud Larose has belonged to the Merlaut family (Taillan Group), leading figures in the Bordeaux wine region. Under the direction of Jean Merlaut, the estate has consistently improved in terms of quality and environmental responsibility. Convinced that "wine is a living heritage," the owner emphasizes sustainable viticulture, innovation in winemaking techniques, and the promotion of the estate's unique identity. Thanks to their vision and commitment, Château Gruaud Larose continues to dazzle connoisseurs of fine wines with iconic cuvées characterized by finesse, power, and longevity.

Vinification and aging

At Château Gruaud Larose, winemaking combines tradition and innovation. The grapes are harvested by hand and each plot is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise and gentle extraction.
Regarding the 2024 vintage, after malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, approximately 80% of which are new. This careful aging process gives the wine its velvety texture, depth, and exceptional aging potential, while respecting the expression of the terroir.
