Producer

The Château Gruaud Larose vineyard stretches across clay-gravel soils, ideal for cultivating Bordeaux grape varieties. This terroir, rich in minerals, gives the wines remarkable structure and complexity. The region's oceanic climate, with its mild winters and sunny summers, allows for optimal grape ripening. The vines, averaging 40 years old, are cultivated with care, respecting the natural balance of the ecosystem, to produce grapes of the highest quality.

Owner and history

Château Gruaud Larose is currently owned by the Merlaut family, who have preserved the estate's heritage and renown. Under their leadership, the château has modernized its facilities while respecting winemaking traditions. The family is committed to producing quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of Saint-Julien. Their passion for winemaking and their respect for the environment are reflected in their rigorous vineyard management and commitment to sustainable practices.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château Gruaud Larose is carried out with great care, blending tradition and modernity. The grapes are harvested by hand and then meticulously sorted. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, allowing for precise temperature management and optimal extraction of aromas. The wine is then aged in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 12 to 18 months. This process allows the wine to develop its complexity and depth while preserving the elegance of the grape varieties.
