The Rockford vineyard stretches across carefully selected plots in the Barossa Valley. The varied soils, composed of clay and sand, impart a unique mineral richness to the grapes. The region's warm, dry climate, combined with cool nights, promotes optimal fruit ripening, allowing the full expression of their aromatic potential. The old, deeply rooted vines produce low-yielding bunches of exceptional quality, guaranteeing powerful and refined wines.

    Owner and history

Currently, Rockford is managed by Robert O'Callaghan, whose vision and passion for wine have shaped the estate's identity. He is assisted by a dedicated team who share his love for artisanal winemaking. Together, they perpetuate traditional methods while adapting to market changes. Rockford's philosophy is rooted in respect for the terroir and a pursuit of authenticity, making it a key player in the Barossa Valley.

    Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Domaine Rockford is carried out with respect for tradition. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place in open vats, allowing for a gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. Pressing is done by hand, in antique presses, thus preserving the integrity of the juice. Aging takes place in oak barrels, some of which are new, for 18 to 24 months, which gives the wine remarkable complexity and depth. Each step is carried out with meticulous care, reflecting the passion and expertise of the estate.
