The Château La Gaffelière vineyard stretches across clay-limestone soils, ideal for cultivating noble grape varieties. The terroir, rich in limestone and clay, imparts a unique minerality and depth to the wines. The temperate oceanic climate, combined with optimal sun exposure, allows for slow and even ripening of the grapes. Each plot is meticulously tended, guaranteeing controlled yields and impeccable quality.

Owner and history

Château La Gaffelière is currently managed by the de Boüard family, who acquired the estate in the 1990s. Their vision is based on an environmentally conscious approach and a constant desire for improvement. Passionate about their craft, they are committed to producing exceptional wines that reflect their terroir. Under their guidance, the estate has established itself among the best in Saint-Émilion, while preserving its heritage and winemaking traditions.

Vinification and aging

Winemaking at Château La Gaffelière is a meticulous process, respecting tradition while incorporating modern techniques. The hand-harvested grapes are rigorously sorted before being destemmed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled vats, allowing for precise temperature control. Aging occurs in oak barrels, some of which are new, to impart complexity and nuance to the wine. This aging process lasts approximately 12 to 18 months, allowing the wine to integrate and reach its perfect balance before bottling.
