    Notes and pairings

    Tasting notes

Château La Gaffelière 2014 displays a deep ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose opens with aromas of ripe black fruit, cedar, sweet spices, and a delicate floral touch. On the palate, the attack is ample, with silky tannins and a generous, perfectly integrated structure. The long, persistent finish reveals a beautiful tension and elegant minerality. A wine that is both powerful and refined, to be enjoyed now or cellared.

    Food & wine pairings

This wine pairs perfectly with a roast rack of lamb, a tournedos Rossini or a cep risotto.

The Château La Gaffelière vineyard covers approximately 22 hectares on an exceptional terroir composed of clay-limestone slopes and sandy-loam foothills. This complex soil promotes slow and complete ripening of the grapes, imparting finesse and structure to the wine. The vines, averaging 40 years old, are carefully cultivated with respect for the environment, allowing for optimal expression of Merlot and Cabernet Franc in this emblematic Saint-Émilion wine.

    Owner and history

Château La Gaffelière belongs to the de Malet Roquefort family, one of Bordeaux's oldest winemaking dynasties. Today, Alexandre de Malet Roquefort manages the estate with passion and precision. He perpetuates the family's tradition of excellence while integrating modern practices to reveal the terroir's unique character. His commitment to sustainable viticulture and his exacting standards make La Gaffelière a leading example of the Saint-Émilion limestone plateau.

    Vinification and aging

At Château La Gaffelière, winemaking combines technological precision with respect for the fruit. Each plot is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the purity of the fruit.
The 2014 vintage is then aged for 14 to 16 months in French oak barrels, approximately 50% of which are new, offering structure, elegance and remarkable aging potential.
