The 2021 Château Mouton Rothschild displays a deep, intense purple color. The nose reveals a complex bouquet of spices and blackcurrant. On the palate, the attack is silky, the tannic structure is noble and precise, supported by remarkable freshness. The impressive length blends ripe black fruit with delicate oak notes, reflecting perfectly integrated oak aging. A distinguished wine of exemplary purity, destined for very long aging.

The vineyard comprises 91 hectares of vines on exceptional terroir. In Old French, the earthen mound on which the vines are planted was called a "mouton" (sheep). The soil is composed of hillocks and marl-limestone, which helps retain the sun's heat.

Owner and history

Château Mouton Rothschild has belonged to the Rothschild family since 1853. Under the visionary leadership of Baron Philippe de Rothschild, the estate experienced a meteoric rise, culminating in its ultimate recognition as a Premier Grand Cru Classé. Today, managed by his daughter, Baroness Philippine de Rothschild, and her children, the château continues to blend tradition and innovation. Their ambition: to maintain Mouton at the pinnacle while committing the estate to sustainable and forward-looking viticulture. The meticulous care given to each vintage reflects a constant pursuit of excellence and a profound respect for the terroir.

Vinification and aging

- Micro-plot winemaking and use of indigenous yeasts
- Aged for 6 months in the main cellar, then for 1 year in the second-year cellar
